Maintain a healthy weight as it has significant implication for your kidneys. When overweight, the kidneys have to work very hard to filter out toxins and also to accomplish the metabolic load of the increased body mass. The chances of developing high blood pressure and diabetes are increased when obese. Hence, certaining losing weight and maintaining appropriate weight as your body’s height helps in reducing the risk to kidney disease.

Kidneys are happy to remove sodium, toxins and urea from the body when you hydrate yourself with enough fluids. This helps in lowering the risk of developing chronic kidney disease. Drink at least 4-6 glasses of water per day to keep your kidneys healthy. If you are prone to kidney stones, it is recommended to drink 2 to 3 litres of water daily in order to reduce the risk of forming new stones. Blood volume and concentration is maintained by the kidneys. The body temperature is controlled and also it aids in digestion.
